Have you ever sat at home with a notebook full of thoughts, or typed out something in your phone’s Notes app at 1am that just felt too real to delete?
Maybe you’re the one in the group chat with the best way of saying how everyone’s feeling. Maybe you’ve got big ideas, small thoughts, deep questions, rants, dreams, or even day-in-the-life stories that need somewhere to go.
Well, we’ve just created that somewhere.
Welcome to the brand-new Southport’s Journey Blog Team — a space for local teenagers (yep, you) to turn your voice into something powerful, creative, and heard.
This is your open invitation to join our growing team of young bloggers and future writers. Whether you dream of a career in journalism, already write for fun, or just have something to say about the world around you — we want to hear from you.
🧠 What It’s All About
We’re building a platform where young people can write honestly, creatively, and confidently — and be published. Whether it’s tackling the big issues affecting your generation, sharing your experience of being a teen in Southport, or writing wellness pieces, rants, or real-life diaries — your voice has power, and we want to help you shape it.
You’ll:
- Learn how to structure your writing
- Understand your own writing style
- Explore different blog formats (interviews, opinions, how-tos, stories…)
- See your words published on Southport’s Journey
- Build towards having your work featured in print (yes, the actual magazine!)
- Meet other creative teens
- Be part of something bigger
🤔 Not sure if you’re “a writer”?
That’s okay. If your spelling’s not perfect, or you’ve never written anything that’s been seen by anyone but your dog — we’ve got you. If your brain is full of ideas but you’ve never known what to do with them, this is the perfect place to start.
We’ll be offering optional Saturday morning and Wednesday evening workshops at Studio Nine HQ in Southport. These will give you the chance to grow your confidence, explore topics, and even collaborate with others before taking the leap into your first blog post.
🎯 What You Need
All we ask is that you:
- Have the drive to stick to a deadline
- Have access to a phone, laptop, tablet or just pen and paper
- Want to be a voice for your generation
- Have something to say, or a feeling you want to share
